Scandinavian-based design studio Orka Collective make some pretty cool stuff. Their first published zine, Skogen—produced in collaboration with Print-o-holic — contains a series of illustrations based on the theme of nature and wildlife, something I myself am always drawn to. The illustrations are simple and utilize a minimal palette, but within each character and illustration are an abundance of depth, personality and originality. The carefully drawn ink strokes and the appropriate use of negative space unifies each piece together in a holistic experience that transports the viewer into the depths of an unknown forest filled with bizarre creatures and ethereal stupor. Beautiful work.
